MOTHERBOARD LEVEL
REPAIRS
All our engineers are extensively trained in laptop
motherboard repairs down to component level. A lot
of other service centers state
they do component level repairs but what they do not
tell you is that there are different levels.
For Example
Level 1 - DC Jack/Fuse Replacement
Level 2 - Power IC Replacement (6-12 pin ICs)
Level 3 - Controller IC Replacement (200-400 pin
ICs)
Level 4 - BGA Rework Reflow (Northbridge /
Southbridge / Graphics Chips)
Level 5 - BGA Reballing
Unlike other repair centers we are trained to repair
down to level 5. Currently we have three InfraRed
BGA Rework/Reflow units to our
disposal and recently we have purchased equipment to
help reball BGA Chips.
With cutting edge technology to our disposal we are
much more equipped than our competitors to repair
Northbridge and GPU
issues which are common on most laptops, more so now
that manufacturers are fitting higher end chips with
ever higher failure
DC JACK REPAIR
Laptop power problems are usually caused by a
faulty/wobbly DC jack, which stops your laptop from
recharging or powering up
Common Symptoms are:
+ Your laptop battery will not charge
+ Wobbly DC Jack Power Connector
+ Intermittent Battery charging
+ Screen Dims and brightens often
+ When power supply moved laptop turns off
+ The charging light may not illuminate.
+ A burning smell coming from the DC Jack
+ No Power
DIM DISPLAY
Dim Display problems are usually caused by a faulty
inverter or Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp in side
the screen, which stops
your laptop screen from illuminating.
Many companies tend replace the screen if the CCFL
is faulty, this option is much more expensive, where
as we can replace the
CCFL for a fraction of the price.
Common Symptoms are:
+ Faint Windows Logo
+ Turns on and Windows Login Sound is Present but
nothing on screen
+ Blank Screen
Power Problems
Laptop power problems are also caused by a faulty
power sections on the motherboard, which can stop
your laptop from recharging
or powering up
Common Symptoms are:
+ Turns off after a while
+ Not turning ON
+ Not charging battery
+ Power supply light blinking when inserted
+ Battery does not charge even though a new battery
has been purchased
+ Battery does not charge even though a new Power
supply has been purchase.
SCREEN
CORRUPTION
Laptop display problems are also caused by a faulty
screen or VGA chip on the motherboard, which can
affect the display.
80% of the time its a fault with your onboard
Graphics Card. These graphics chips are BGA form
factor, Ball Grid Array chips
cannot be resoldered using convention soldering
irons. We have invested over £250,000 on equipment
which includes three BGA
rework/Reflow units.
Unlike other repair centres we have even perfected
BGA reballing..
Common Symptoms are:
+ Multi Colours
+ Multi unknown alphanumeric characters
+ Blank Screen
+ White Screen
+ Flickering Screen
+ Lines on Screen
+ VGA Chip
+ Power Light but no display
HDD PROBLEM
Laptop HDD problems are usually caused by a faulty
IDE Controller, HHD connector on the motherboard or
a Faulty HDD.
Common Symptoms are:
+ IDE error
+ Operating system not found
+ Ntdlr missing
+ HDD hanging
+ Clicking noise from HDD
+ Whining noise
LIQUID SPILLAGE
Liquid Spills cause components to short on the
motherboard. So the best thing is to turn off your
laptop immediately and mop down
any excess liquid with paper towels (do not use a
hair dryer as that will cause more issues).
Make sure the battery is removed and send the laptop
to us immediately.
Liquid spillage can cause rusting if the laptop is
not sent to us immediately.
Common Symptoms are:
+ Keyboard Sticky
+ No power
+ Failure of drives
+ Motherboard Failure
